Welcome to the Homepage of the International Forum for Saint Bernards

As you know the International Forum for Saint Bernards has it seeds in a non-binding association of several clubs in the year 1998. On behalf of the 2010 Forum-Show at Bad Boll (GER) the decision was made to get on as an official registered club (at the court’s register of associations).

Dogs – particularly for us the Saint Bernards – belong to our civilization. The character and appearance are fascinating and we must retain our breed for the coming generations.

This inevitably means not to divide the small population into different typologies and the breed must be kept alive and well.

To achieve sustained success an absolute obsession on the standard of the FCI is a must for everybody. Only this guaranties the natural functionality in the future and is the only basis of breeding !

The close international cooperation between breeders and clubs is necessary to succeed.

That’s in addition the only chance to fend genetically narrowing off which is both dangerous for a small population density and hereditary defects. To counter these matters of fact on one hand active checks are required and giving information for breeders on the other.

One of the aims of the International Forum for Saint Bernards is collecting relevant data to the breed from all regions and providing the data bank for everybody. Sure that such information is not only depending on the response from the clubs, but also from dog owners, who recognize in their point of view abnormalities and a heredity transmission as a possible reason.

A workshop will be scheduled soon to show breeders, members and fanciers the objective targets of the FORUM.

We’ll design an online-magazine named “Forum-Info” which will provide an insight into facts of the Saint-clubs and the FORUM. Interesting stories regarding the breed and general information is to innervate this magazine.

Fanciers of the Saint Bernard looking for a puppy or a dog will have the opportunity to make contacts with breeders all over the world via this website.

Last but not least we’ll offer services e.g. to ask somebody’s advice.

We would be very glad to find a lot of like-minded people matching us and we are convinced that’s absolutely necessary. Individual short-sighted interests must be shelved and our breed will enjoy great popularity in the future.
